Our Team

Ms Shannon
Barn Manager
Shannon has been riding and caring for horses for over 40 years. She has competed up and down the East coast in rated competitions and learned from many top trainers.
She still competes on the hunter/jumper circuit with her horse Eddie and lives in Waxhaw with her husband, son, and 3 horses.

Shannon loves caring for our hardworking lesson horses and strives to keep all of them fat, happy, and healthy for all our young riders to enjoy!

Ms Amber
Trainer, Show Team Coach
Amber has been riding since she was 7 starting with summer camps and weekly lessons, then transitioning to a working student at an eventing barn where she began training and teaching.

She has shown hunter/jumper, eventing, dressage, carriage driving and has done Morgan shows in hand and under saddle.
She truly enjoys helping each student grow as individual riders.

Ms Madi
Trainer
Madi grew up around horses. She rode and showed through her teens in B/C shows and was the youngest IHSA competitor in the country at 14.

Her experience includes equine therapy facilities, lesson barns, show teams, and a working student position at a five star eventing yard.

She is fond of no stirrup work and quiet aids with riders as well as praise and affirmation.

Ms Mare
Office Manager
Mare started riding at a young age. She showed in hunters and combined training in college and through her mid-twenties. She started as an instructor and camp director for Thunderbay in 1993.
After 10 years, her husband's career took her away from the area for quite some time. They moved to the Columbia area in 2017 and she rejoined the Thunderbay family in 2018 as the office manager and camp director.
Thunderbay will always have a very special place in her heart!

Ms Victoria
Trainer
Victoria has 10+ years of riding experience, with a background and love for show jumping. She rode for her college team and has learned from a variety of professionals.
Most recently she is preparing to start a new show season with her personal horse, Shergar, and enjoys hiking with her dogs in her free time.

Victoria focuses on the importance of a horse and rider partnership. She strives to develop correct biomechanics and skills in riders while prioritizing a safe and fun environment in which they can grow and thrive.
